Steher WM 2027!

Großartige Entscheidung für den Steher-Sport: 2027 wird es wieder eine Weltmeisterschaft geben: erstmals für Männer und Frauen! Das hat der Radsport-Weltverband UCI am Rande der Straßen-Weltmeisterschaft in Montreal/Kanada entschieden.

Bereits im kommenden Jahr bei der sogenannten "Super-WM" in Haute-Savoie/Mont Blanc in Frankreich gehören die Steher zum Programm. Die WM findet vom 24.8. bis 5.9.2027 statt. Die Bahnrad-Wettbewerbe werden indes unweit von Paris auf der Olympiabahn St. Quentin-en-Yvelines ausgetragen.

Letztmals gab es eine Steher-Weltmeisterschaft 1994 in Palermo/Italien. Sieger damals: Carsten Podlesch aus Berlin. In diesem Jahr hat die UEC erstmals Europameisterschaften für Frauen ausgerichtet. Siegerin dort: Romy Kasper aus Leipzig, miot der Heimatstadt Forst (Lausitz).

Im kommenden Jahr werden die UEC Europameisterschaften im Berliner Velodrom ausgefahren. SAVE THE DATE: 10. bis 14. Februar 2027

Lastly, the UCI Management Committee decided to add the motor-pacing event to the programme of the UCI World Championships for track, which will be part of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships in Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc. The motor-pacing race is a highly spectacular event, in which each rider races behind a motorcycle, ridden by a pacer in standing position, that can reach speeds of 90 km/h. The motorcycles are fitted with a roller at the rear, allowing riders to follow closely behind and benefit fully from the slipstream effect. The speciality will make its return to the UCI World Championships programme more than 30 years after its last appearance, in Palermo (Italy) in 1994. Established in 1893, the World Championships for motor-pacing are cycling’s oldest World Championships. Incorporated into the UCI Regulations for track cycling (art. 3.2.189 - 3.2.217), motor-pacing still has its own annual UEC European Championships. These will be the first UCI World Championships in the specialty to be contested by both men and women.
